President Hichilema speaks on good leadership

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says those in authority must be good shepherds by being inclusive.

President Hichilema says one cannot be a good Shepherd if they do not love the people they are serving.

President Hichilema said this in Mongu today when he joined Catholic worshipers at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, in celebrating Good Shepherd Sunday.

“I think there is a big lesson here today that we should take and contemplate about. We say we are a Christian nation, so we must practice inclusiveness in this church, in other churches and in the body of Christ as a whole,” President Hichilema said.

And President Hichilema says one cannot be a good Shepherd if they fail to promote unity. The Head of State has since urged Zambians to work hard if they are to lead by example as good shepherds.

Meanwhile, Mongu Diocese Bishop, Evans Chinyemba says the church has a responsibility to pray for those in positions of authority.

“As Republican President, you have the responsibility by the people of Zambia to manage the affairs and to lead us in difficult moments and in joyful moments the responsibility is on you. We are aware of the challenge of the drought which is not our making but God’s. We are aware of the measures that you are putting to respond to the challenges,” Bishop Chinyemba said.
