MAID GOES MAD IN COURT – AS SHE STARTED TO UNDRESS AND SHOUTED UNCONTROLLABLY

PETER SICHALI writes

A 29- YEAR-OLD maid of South Sudan on Thursday sent Isoka Magistrates Court and officials into panic mood when she suddenly went mad and started undressing and shouting uncontrollably.

The incident happened after Sagone Theresa Suno, 29 appeared before Magistrate Musa Chanda for illegal entry into Zambia.

Suno also attempted to grab a gun from a police officer in full view of the magistrate and other court officials.

When she started to undress, some female members of public in the court quickly rushed to her and covered her in a Chitenge material.

Magistrate Chanda then ordered the accused be taken outside the court room and called for reinforcement of female police officers.

While outside, Suno started dancing, singing in Swahili and laughing uncontrollably until she was taken away by female police officers.

Earlier Suno appeared before Magistrate Numwa Imenda on the same offence.

Particulars of the offence were that Sagone Theresa Suno being a South Sudan national arrived in Zambia over land and failed to proceed and appear before the nearest immigration office at the point of entry.

The accused pleaded not guilty and explained that she met some men at Nakonde border who took her passport to immigration offices to have it stamped.

She told the court that when her passport was checked by immigration officers it was stamped ‘rejected’.

When asked why she entered her country when her passport was rejected, Suno said she did not know that her entry was rejected because she could not read English.

The matter comes up on April 29 for trial
