Guntilla Muleya, the newly appointed Director-General of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), was found dead with gunshot wounds in Lusaka’s Njolwe area. Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga reported that Muleya’s body had two bullet wounds: one on the back and another on the head, with a deep wound on his forehead. Two bullet cartridges were recovered at the scene.
On July 24, 2024, at approximately 10:30 hours, Woodlands Police Station received a report from a concerned citizen who had seen a vehicle, possibly a Pajero, with its doors open and heard two gunshots the night before.
The following morning, the citizen discovered Muleya’s body while heading to work. Police visited the scene at Palabana NAPSA Housing along the gravel road and confirmed Muleya’s identity through an ID card found in his pocket.
A murder investigation has been launched, and further updates will be provided as it progresses.
