EMULATE LITUNGA, CHITIMUKULU, MAJ KACHINGWE URGES POLITICIANS

y NATION REPORTER

ZAMBIA’s political leadership should humble itself and begin to cultivate the spirit of preaching peace and uniting the country, which are being championed by the Litunga, the King of the Lozi people and His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba-speaking people, Richard Kachingwe has said.

Major Kachingwe says the Litunga and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu have led the way in creating peace and unity in the country by coming together to celebrate the Kusefya Pang’wena and the Kuombka ceremony without politicizing the two rich traditional ceremonies.

Maj Kachingwe said what the Litunga and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu had done was to guide the nationa that peace and unity in the country was cardinal irrespective of the diverse cultural dimensions.

He said the political leaders, the House of Chiefs, the civil society orgnaisdations and other stakeholders should begin to preach peace and unity so that the country could heal from the perceived deep divisions and tension that had engulfed the country.

Maj Kachingwe stated that the Litunga and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu had exhibited rare traits of true leadership by ensuring that the subjects of the two respective chiefdoms could come together and live together under the true One Zambia One Nation motto.

“I wish to comment the Litunga and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu for having exhibited such a rare feat of coming together to promote peace and unity. This is what the country needs for it to heal from the perceived divisions and tension that seem to have engulfed us. The initiative to begin to unite the country should be commended. It is now up to the political leadership to take a leaf from our two traditional leaders and build on our peace and unity. It is my prayer that politicians will not use the occasion to make political mileage,” Maj Kachingwe said.

And governance Activists Noel Chisebe has hailed the successful holding of this year’s Kuomboka ceremony despite the drought situation.

Mr Chisebe has also hailed President Hakainde Hichilema for showing leadership during the just ended Kuomboka Ceremony by attending the event despite not being a guest of honor as it has helped in promoting unity.

President Hichilema was Saturday among the attendees to the 2024 Kuomboka Ceremony where Paramount Chief Chiti Mukulu was the guest of Honor.

Dr Chisebe said the just ended ceremony had demonstrated the show of unity as Zambians were getting more united as one people.

Dr Chisebe said President Hichilema should be commended for showing leadership loyalty by attending the ceremony even when the common custom was that the head of State always plays the role of guest of honor.

Meanwhile, Dr Chisebe has admonished the people that had been spreading hatred about the Kuomboka ceremony, saying that it was high time they reflected on their actions as Zambia was above tribal and ethnic hatred.
