FORMER President Edgar Lungu has described former University of Zambia Sishuwa Sishuwa as a principled critic and that had he met him (Dr Sishuwa) earlier, he would not have considered him a hired gun.
Former President Lungu says Dr Sishuwa, who was his curt critic before the 2021 general elections is an insightful and principled man who he should not have considered a hired gun.
Former President Lungu who for the first time met with Dr Sishuwa he had come to appreciate the former UNZA don insights on an array of things going on in the country.
The former head of State has described Dr Sishuwa as a principles critic whose insights were enlightening.
Former President Lungu met with Dr. Shishuwa for the time on April 6, 2023 and the two had an insightful interaction, reflecting on a range of things before and after the 2021 general elections.
In a letter to Dr Sishuwa, former President Lungu said it was a pleasure meeting Dr Sishuwa for the first time and that their meeting was such a pleasant time.
Former President Lungu said he enjoyed the enlightening and thought-provoking conversation he shared with Dr Sishuwa who has now turned out to be a fierce critic of the President Hakainde Hichilema administration.
“In retrospect, we should have met much earlier, maybe I could not have taken you as a hired gun,” former President Lungu said.
The former head of State said he had been reading Dr. Sishuwa’s writings although he had difficulties appreciating the motive at the time but had realized that the former UNZA don was a principled critic.
Former President Lungu said there were many lessons learnt, and that he would continue to learn from as many other Zambians.
