Ndola council slammed for trying to turn graveyard into bus station

By NATION REPORTER

A PRESSURE group calling its self-save mine masala memorial grave has vowed to fight the Ndola City Council after it advertised for change of land use for the old Masala Cemetery.

The council advertised in the Daily Mail for the change of land use from cemetery to mixed use where the developer intends to construct an intercity Bus Terminus.

Pressure group leader Douglas Mwewa said they were going to fight the council because it was not right that people who had buried their ancestors there would have their memories scrapped off if the bus terminus is constructed.

Mr Mwewa condemned the move and said he was even ready to raise money to ensure that the grave site was maintained as a memorial park.

He said that he had received a number of calls from concerned individuals who did not want the place turned into a bus terminus.
