Kidist denies using Congo X2 shape up pills

By GRACE CHAILE

SOCIALITE Kidist Kifle has admitted to have been hired as an advertising agent to promote a herbal product for enlargement of hips known as “Congo X2 shape up pills” but denies using it.

Kidist, the wife of musician Elton Mulenga aka Yo Maps, has countersued Mary Chimunika claiming damages for using her name and pictures without consent.

She is also claiming damages for loss of endorsement contracts as her name has been tarnished by the alleged accusation.

Kidist seeks an order restraining Chimunika and her company Congo Kwetu natural product from using her name and pictures.

In this matter, Chimunika sued Kidist in the Lusaka High Court for defamation and demanded K800, 000 compensation .

Chimunika claimed that the media personality agreed that she uses the product for two months to prove the product indeed was effective..

“After two months of trials and getting better results as agreed, Kidist Kifle made defamatory remarks against the product which has dented its imagine, loss of business value and failed to penetrate the Zambian market through Zambia Medicines and Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) as it can be a waste of resources,” she said.

But Kidist in her defence and counterclaim denied all the allegations saying she publicly denounced and disassociated herself from the product after discovering that it was not authorised for use by ZAMRA.
