Marijuana helps me study, pupils tells court

A 20 years old Pupil told the Choma Magistrates Court that smoking Marijuana helps him to study well and comprehend better.

Maybin Ngeza who was appearing before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa is charged with Trafficking in Psychotropic Substances contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that Ngeza trafficked in 3.1gms of Marijuana a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation.
The incident happened on December 7 in Choma and Ngeza was apprehended, charged and arrested on the same day.
When he was called to take plea before Court by Public Prosecutor Gerald Tembo, the accused person without hesitation admitted the charge read to him.
Court: Have you understood the charge?
Ngeza: I have understood.
Court: How do you plead?
Ngeza: I admit.
Court: You admit that you trafficked in 3.1 GMs of Marijuana?
Ngeza: Yes.
Court: Did you have legal authority?
Ngeza: No.
Court: What was it for?
Ngeza: It was for smoking, i am a pupil and when i smoke i read and understand more.
Court: I enter a plea of guilty.
Following a plea of guilty, the matter was adjourned to December 28 for Facts and production of the Public Analyst report.
Ngeza was remanded in custody.
