Serial defiler gets 25 years

STEPHEN MWEWA writes

THE Kasama High Court has sentenced a-40-year old man to twenty five years imprisonment with hard labour, for defiling three girls on the same day.

Samuel Kombe of Maround Compound in Mbala was charged with three counts of defilement for defiling three girls, two aged 10 and the other one 11, on    October 31,  2019, in Maround Compound.

Facts before the court were that on the material day around 13:00 hours, the three went to draw water near Kombe’s house and that it was at that point he  called them so that they sweep his house on pretext that he would give them local fruits locally known as ”amasuku.”

The minors narrated before the court when the matter was before the subordinate court for trial that, when they entered the house, the convict then closed the door and started defiling them one by one while threatening to axe whoever was going to scream.

One of the minors, informed her parents after she started having difficulties in walking and later the parents reported the matter to police.

When the matter came for sentencing before Ndola based High Court Justice Derrick Mulenga, sitting in the Kasama High Court said that he was satisfied that the prosecution witnesses established a prima facie case against the convict and sentenced him accordingly.
