NKANA OUT OF RELEGATION ZONE

MUKWIMA CHILALA writes

RONALD ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba and Ramadhan Kessy was all twelve-time league champions Nkana FC needed to earn the bragging rights in the Kitwe derby against town mates Power Dynamos who were victors in the first leg.
Nkana went into the match on the back of a CAF Confederation Cup exit at the hands of CS Sfaxien of Tunisia while Power went into the match with a new veteran coach Fordson Kabole who was making his return to the helm of the Ndeke-based club since 2011.
The visiting side only needed 10 minutes for striker Kampamba to put visitors in the lead before Tanzanian defender Ramadhan Kessy could double the lead 18 minutes into the second half to help Nkana earn the bragging rights with a 0-2 win.
The win pushed Nkana out of the relegation zone therefore easing pressure on the team looking to qualify for the CAF competition with very few games left to play.
Nkana now lie in position number 7 with about 4 games in hand having only played 8 games so far due to their Confederations Cup engagements where they have since been eliminated.
Power on the other hand have been pushed to position 6 after being replaced by NAPSA Stars in position 5 following NAPSA’s one-nil over Lumwana Radiants.
Power’s loss has piled more pressure on the club’s executive who have over the years come under scrutiny from their fans for failure to win any silverware since 2011.
The recalling of ex-coach and 2011 title winning gaffer Fordson Kabole has not helped matters as some fans took to social media to protest the decision on account of Kabole’s age.
