GOVERNMENT has urged the general public to be more focused on putting up preventive measures of disease outbreaks rather than looking for solutions when the demand is already done.
In an interview, Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo said, putting in place prevention measures is the best way to combat and eradicate the outbreaks spread of diseases in the country.
Ms Masebo said, when the country is faced with a disease outbreak, it puts a burden on government to start channeling resources that have been meant for other developments in trying to control a particular disease outbreak.
“It is very challenging because government need to get the resources for other sectors. So, this can only be avoided when citizens put up preventive measures,” he said.
She further said, in some instances the procurement and supply of drugs becomes a challenge because most of the drugs for disease outbreaks are sourced outside the country.
She said, it usually takes time to be delivered into the country hence posing a threat to lives of people.
