DEC embarks on aiding drug-dependent youths

BY MILLENNIUM REPORTER

THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has called on parents to take advantage of the free counselling services being offered by the Commission to help drug dependent children transform.

Drug Enforcement Commission spokesperson Hussein Khan says the Commission has a Counselling and Education Department that looks at the plight of young people battling with substance abuse as the Commission does not arrest such individuals who voluntarily seek help.

Mr Khan urged parents and guardians to take the initiative to get in touch with the Commission to help their drug dependent children.

He adds that the Commission is worried with the number of children on the streets who are abusing drugs and he appealed to parents and guardians to take keen interest in their children’s social interactions.
