CALLS for the dismissal of Zesco board chairman, Vickson Ncube for alleged incompetence have intensified with Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba declaring that Mr Ncube’s stay at the power utility company has become unattainable following his confession and admittance of failure.
Speaking in an interview with Millennium TV, Mr Sinkamba said it was shocking that Mr Ncube and the entire management at Zesco could lie to President Hakainde Hichilema that the country would never experience load shedding.
He said the manner the management at Zesco acted was shameful because this had dented the image of the head of State.
Mr Sinkamba said management was expected to tell Mr Hichilema the truth instead of giving him false information about the state of the Kariba Dam.
Meanwhile Patriotic Front presidential hopeful Greyford Monde has said the load shedding had already started impacting negatively on the economy.
He said the effects of load shedding were being felt in that millers had suffered a decline in their production by 20 percent.
Mr Monde said what this meant was that prices of mealie meal and other products would have to be increased in order for them to meet their overhead costs.
“Other than that, some employees may have to be thrown on the streets in order for them to balance on revenue and expenditure. Small scale enterprises such as saloons, barbershops, welders, business centers are already having it hard. What more damage should we witness before corrective action is done,” Mr Monde said.
