PHARMACIST DENIES STEALING K100, 000 FROM EMPLOYER

A LUSAKA pharmacist has denied stealing money worth more than K100, 000 and and undisclosed amount in dollars cash from Chirundu Pharmacy Limited.

This is in a matter in which Evans Bwalya, 35, of Avondale is facing 10 counts of theft by servant contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Allegations are that on February 20, 2020, Bwalya, being employed by Chirundu Pharmacy Limited as executive director, stole K7, 974 cash, the property of his employer.

In the second count, it is alleged that on May 4, the same year, he stole K15, 454.

Details in the third count, are that on May 8, 2020, Bwalya again stole K20, 541 cash.

In the fourth count, it is alleged that on May 19 the same year, Bwalya stole K6, 240 belonging to his employer.

In count five, it is alleged that on July 17 this year, the accused stole K51, 943 from his employer.

It is alleged in the sixth count that six days later, the accuse stole K8, 800 cash from his employer.

In count seven, it is alleged that five days later he again stole US$105.20.

Further allegations in the eighth count are that on September 16, 2020, the accused stole K4, 585 cash.

In the ninth count, it is alleged that on September 28, 2020, Bwalya stole K538. 30.

In the last count, he is accused of stealing US$562.40 cash on October 14.

Magistrate Ireen Phiri set January 11, for commencement of trial.
