DIRECTOR IN COURT FOR STEAL-ING GOATS

THE case in which CITY University of Science and Technology director Muyenga Atanga and five others where taken to court for alleged-ly stealing goats worth over K200, 000 from a farm in Chisamba is coming up on Friday for return of bench warrant against fifth ac-cused.
This is a case in which Atanga and others are charged with stock theft, an offence attracting up to seven years imprisonment.
Other defendants are Ian Munsanje, 26, a farm supervisor, Silven Mukonka, 20, a farm shepherd, and Thomas Sikapizye, 29, a livestock technician.The rest are Jedrick Mwiinde, 26, a manager, and Joseph Siamana, whose occupation is yet to be known.
It is alleged that on August 15 last year, Munsanje, Mukonka, Atanga, Mwiinde, Siamana, Sikapazye, while acting with others, stole 2,006 goats all valued at K277,500 belonging to Mubanga Kanyanta. Yesterday, the accused appeared before Lusaka magistrate Sanford Ngobola.
Previously, the matter came up for plea but the magistrate observed that Atanga’s particulars were not on the indictment despite the accused being present.
Meanwhile, the matter is coming up on November 5 for the return of bench warrant against the 5th accused.
