Wedding trip ends in tragedy for Lusaka mother of 3

UNLESS her family raises enough money for her to undergo a spine operation, a 29-year-old mother of three faces the sad prospects of never walking again.

In pain, Christine Lungu of Lusaka’s Mtendere Compound now lies in bed at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) with injuries to her spine hoping and praying for a miracle.

Christine’s troubles began three weeks ago as she left home beaming with joy to attend the the marriage ceremony of her sister in Ngwerere, situated in the northern part of the nation’s capital.

As Christine boarded a Rosa Bus on the evening of Friday October 9, 2021 in Lusaka’s Kulima Tower, she could have not guessed it was ill-fated.

Half way through her journey, a speeding Howo Truck driven by a Mwenda Tembo driving in the opposite direction swerved from it’s lane as it avoided a traffic-flouting minibus and rammed in the Rosa killing nine people including a one-month instantly.

Although Christine and 16 others passengers made it out of the accident alive, their injuries were serious and life-threatening.

Christine was rushed to the UTH were doctors concluded that she sustained an injury to her spinal cord and unless she underwent an operation, she would never walk again.

Jobless, Christine needs K45,000 to foot the cost of the operation.

Sadly Christine’s husband and family have not been able to raise the fee to get her operated on and now look to good Samaritans for help.

Christine’s one-year-old baby who depends on her breast milk is now being taken of her neighbor.https://kalemba.news/wedding-trip-ends-in-tragedy-for-lusaka-mother-of-3/
