CATHERINE PHIRI TO RETURN TO THE RING

Zambian boxer Catherine Phiri has entered a residential camp today in readiness for her return to the ring for the first time since 2019.

Phiri who was recently commissioned as an officer in the Zambia air force-ZAF, will fight Kudakwashe Chiwendre of Zimbabwe for the interim world boxing council super bantamweight title fight in Lusaka on the 29th of January.

Following her clearance by her employers to return to the ring, Phiri told the press that despite having last fought in 2019, she is fit as the military training she underwent three months ago kept her in good shape.

The bout is being organized by oriental quarries boxing promotions and will see the Zambian former WBC bantamweight champion look to win the super bantamweight belt in front of the home fans.
