NATIONAL team star forward Patson Daka has been named as the official Austrian Bundesliga player of the season.
And, President Edgar Lungu, an avid soccer fan, has posted a celebratory message after Daka scooped of Austria Player of The Season 2020/21 award.
Daka has also won that country’s top scorer’s award after scoring 34 goals in all competitions and 27 in the league.
President Lungu, who is also The Chipolopolo patron, writes; “So proud of Patson Daka; 27 goals in 27 matches, and to be named best player of the season in the Austria Bundesliga is no mean achievement.
“May you be an inspiration to many boys around our country whose dream to play in European leagues may seem far fetched. Keep flying our flag high.”
The 2017 CAF young player of the year best off competition from a teammate, Zlatko Junuzovic, Nikolai Baden Frederiksen of WSG Swarovski Tirol,
LASK Linz’s Gernot Trauner and
Ercan Kara of SK Rapid Vienna to emerge as the best player in Austria in the 2020/2021 season.
A jury, consisting of club presidents, managers, and coaches of the Tipico Bundesliga, selected the best of the 2020/21 season.
After finishing last season in second place on the top scorer list behind Shonga Weissman, he is on the very best path, this year not only receiving the trophy for the best player but also the trophy for the top scorer in the Tipico Bundesliga. He will be honored by the Bundesliga CEO Christian Ebenbauer at the Salzburg championship celebration.
His head coach Jesse Marsch who is heading to RB Leipzig at the end of the campaign won the coach of the year award for a second straight season with FK Austria Wien goalkeeper Patrick Pentz being named as the best shot-stopper this campaign.
