A LUSAKA police officer has been committed to the High Court for murder, contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
In this case Mzuba Mwiinga is charged with allegedly murdering Hillary Kapyanga on July 20, 2020 in Lusaka.
Mwiinga yesterday appeared before Lusaka Magistrate Alice Walusiku for explanation of the charge which he said he understood.
Ms. Walusiku told the accused person that he would not take plea before her as the charge he is facing is only tried by the High Court.
After explanation of the charge the State presented to court a certificate of committal from the Director of Public Prosecutions committing Mwiinga to the High Court.
Ms. Walusiku then committed Mwiinga and told him that he will appear at the next High Court criminal session and remanded him in custody as the offence he is facing is not bailable.
