Invest in timber processing-veep

THERE is need for the local manufacturing industries in Zambia to invest in timber processing, vice President Inonge Wina has said.

Ms Wina said the country had all the necessary raw materials needed to run timber processing industry.

She said this yesterday in a speech read for her by Minister of National Planning Alexander Chiteme during the official opening of new offices for Sikale Deco at East pack in Lusaka.

The Vice President urged Sikale Deco to continue expanding its investments in Zambia and beyond.

She further encouraged the company to promote  long term investment in tree planting which will ensure the country  sustain its  Timber sub -sector.

And speaking at the same function, Lands Minister Jean Kapata emphasized that government wants timber to be exported as a finished product hence the need to promote value addition.

Meanwhile, Sikale Deco chief Operating Officer Vanessa Seno Dudhia said her company was promoting Zambian products in Line with President Edgar Lungu’s call to promote local product.
