NAPSA Stars coach Mohamed Fathi says he is un-moved by the fact that two of their strongest title contenders Zesco United and Zanaco have games in hand each as his team will; concentrate on winning its games.
The Pensioners have played the highest number of games than any other team in the top five among the title contenders and are second on the log with 46 points out of the 25 games played one point less than log leaders Forest Rangers who have played 24 games.
But Fathi says the games in hand that his opponents have do not bother him a lot because all the teams will end up will nine games left to play after exhausting their unplayed games.
He noted that the log was still wide open between the top two teams and the rest of the other sides that were chasing for the top four spots.
Fathi said that what his team needed was to maintain the momentum and keep winning their games because their plan was to play continental football.
He noted that he takes each game as it comes as the objective was to win all their remaining nine games without looking at the other teams.
“If these teams have games in hand, its fine with us because its football and if they win then they will join us on top because if you look at it from all angles Zanaco are playing Forest, while Eagles are playing Nkana and these are the teams in the top four. So whatever result is win-win for us because our target is to go to continental,” Fathi said.
“So if Zanaco manages to win by beating Forest,Nkana and Eagles it means we will still maintain the same position even if we drop one position we still be in the bracket of continental.”
The local league resumes on July 18 following its suspension in March and NAPSA will open its account with a home tie against third-placed Green Eagles.
