Choma man denies theft of 45 ltrs diesel

A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been arraigned in the Choma Magistrates Court to exculpate himself from accusations that he stole diesel from a Filling Station.

Jethro Matongo appeared before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa in a matter he is charged with Theft Contrary to section 272 of Chapter of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Matongo stole 45 litres of Diesel valued at K701 the property of Choma Puma Filling Station.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred on dates unknown but between 9th and 13th April 2020 in Choma.

When he appeared for plea before Court yesterday, Matongo strongly denied the allegations made against him.

Court: Have you understood the charge read to you?

Matongo: I have understood.

Court: How do you plead?

Matongo: I deny.

Magistrate Munukayumbwa went ahead and entered a plea of not guilty.

The matter was then adjourned to 30th April 2020 for trial and the accused person was remanded in custody.
