RED Arrows captain Bruce Musakanya, former Zesco united star Lazarous Kambole and ex Forest rangers on loan winger Austin Muwowo have been nominated for the Fans’ Player of the Season category to be announced during this year’s MTN Super League Awards.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) announced yesterday that the MTN Supper League Awards would take place on July 31 at Lusaka’s Pamodzi Hotel.

The announcement was made during a press briefing at the Football House addressed by FAZ vice-president Rix Mweemba, MultiChoice Zambia communications manager Mwika Malindima, MTN Zambia Head of Events and sponsorship Mwamba Siame and Members of the Awards Committee.

The meeting however refused to disclose the nominees for all the Awards categories as they were to be kept secret.

The committee only announced nominees for the Top Scorer Awards which include NAPSA’s Laudt Mavugo, Forester Rangers striker Adams Zikiru and his former team mate, Austin Muwowo, who all netted 11 goals in the ended transitional season.

MTN Events and sponsorship Manager, Mwamba Siame, said the Committee had decided to include the Fans’ Player of the Season to be voted by the soccer fans using a short code message.

Musakanya, Muwowo and Kambole have been nominated for the awards after individually having unforgettable seasons with their respective teams.

Zesco’s Lazarous Kambole and Forest’s Austin Muwowo, have since left for South Africa to join Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, respectively, while Bruce Musakanya is still on Red Arrows’ books.

The major awards for players and officials have been categorized as follows:

The Player of the Transitional Season

The Most Disciplined Player of the Transitional Season

The Young Player of the Transitional Season

The Top Scorer of the Transitional Season

The Coach of the Transitional Season

The Best Referee of the Transitional Season

The Best Assistant Referee of the Transitional Season

The FAZ president’s meritorious award

The team of the transitional season featuring the best eleven players will also be announced.
