Security guards docked for copper cathodes theft

TWO security guards have appeared in the Kapiri Mposhi Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing copper cathodes valued at K 2.5 million.

Before Magistrate Brenda Chiganda were Lewis Chipili, 26, of Riverside compound in Kapiri Mposhi and Evance Mwila, 30, of house number 7 Lukanga compound, Kabwe.

It is alleged that the duo between January 30 and February 9 while acting together with other unknown people stole 27.2 tonnes of Copper cathodes valued at K 2.5 million the property of Central African Corridors (CAC).

The duo was arrested in Mwinilunga on June 17.

Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence when the matter came up for plea.

The matter comes up in July 15 for start of trial. The accused have been remanded in custody. -ZANIS
