Court orders mechanic to maintain his child

The Chilenje local court has ordered a Lusaka mechanic to maintain his child with K200.

This was in a matter in which Caesar Chilufya,39,a  mechanic of Libala Stage 2 was sued by Mercy Sinyangwe,32, a tailor of Libala Stage 4 for child maintenance.

Sinyangwe explained that they were just staying together as was dowry was not paid.

 “Our first born is nine years old and I am expecting another child. He has not supported our child from the time we separated,

“I have brought him to court because I want him to start supporting our first born child including the one I am expecting,” she said.

The two were appearing before presiding senior local court magistrate Patrick Nyirenda.

Chilufya said he had no problem supporting the child and was willing to get child to stay with him at his house.

The court ordered the man to maintain his child with K200 and provide all the necessary needs.

It also ordered Chilufya to start preparing things for the coming child and advised him to pay dowry if he wanted to get back his lover.
