Elephant tramples Chiawa man to death

A CHIAWA man identified as Isaac Kaliyo of Mushoganede village in Chieftainess Chiawa’s chiefdom of Kafue district was killed by an elephant yesterday.

Kaliyo, 32, was fatefully attacked by the beast around 15:00hours between Munyemeshi Lodge and Nyamangwe fishing camp.
The victim’s body was picked by Chiyaba police station officers and has since been deposited in the nearby Mtendere Mission Hospital mortuary in Chirundu district waiting for burial.

An inquiry file has since been opened and a police source assured the deceased’s family that more information would follow as things began unfold.
