NKANA and ZESCO’s opponents in group C of the CAF confederations cup, Al Hillal Omburman and Asante Kotoko on Sunday evening failed to shoot to the top of the group after the two teams played out to a 1-1 draw in their group stage game in Kumasi Ghana.
It was the visitors Al Hillal who opened the scores early in the first 20 minutes of the match that looked like they would escape with a rare away win at Kotoko’s fortress Baba Yara Stadium where the home team rarely lost a game.
The loss would have left Kotoko on 6 points with a slim chance of qualifying to the quarter finals as their other opponents Nkana beat their local rivals ZESCO in the other game of the group to shoot to the summit of the table.
Kotoko equalized with 10 minutes to go through striker Sogne Yacoubato secure a draw for the home team.
The draw between Kotoko and Al Hillal means that Nkana tops the group ahead the last group stage game where all the top three teams, Nkana, Al Hillal and Asante Kotoko all need outright wins to qualify to the quarter finals stage.
