THE Malawi Judo National Team is expected in the country for a combined training camp with the local Judo teams, Zambia National Team Judo coach, Moola Limpile, announced in Lusaka yesterday.
Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Limpile said the training camp, to be held at the Judo Centre, at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka, is intended to prepare for the African Championship expected soon.
Moola said two female and four male judokas from the neighboring country will converge at camp with the Zambian teams.
He said all combined judo national teams in the country are expected to participate in the 10 days training camp, one of the many training camps planned by the Zambia Judo Association.
“Opening our Judo calendar is Malawi national team for a training camp and very soon, we will be expecting Botswana for a similar program. We plan to have more of such events as a centre of excellence,” said Lipimile.
Limpile said the training camp would commence with a testing competing on Sunday that will see all judo teams take part.
Lipimile also announced that the association has lined up a number of training camps for the Zambian teams to prepare for the upcoming major continental and world judo tournaments.
