MEAL ALLOWANCES ABOLISHED IN ALL PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

Government has abolished meal allowances for all public University students.

Minister of Higher Education Professor Nkandu Luo says this is to scale up more resources that will be distributed in other public universities as loan scheme’s

The Minister says this will however not affect students that are already receiving meal allowances at both UNZA and CBU

K575 Million has been allocated to go towards student allowances public Universities in 2019

Minister of Higher Education Prof Nkandu Luo has announced that UNZA and CBU will receive 1,900 scholerships each while only 1,000 of them will be distributed amongst five universities which include Kapasa Makasa , Mulungishi, Nkwami Nkuruma, Chalimbana and Palabana Universities

Prof Nkandu Luo has however dispelled assertions that students are being over charged to repay these loans

The Minister has not disclosed how much has been raised by the Higher Education loan scholerahips board saying they will communicate all information at a later date
