Hamaumndu warns shoddy contractors

By NATION REPORTER

GOVERNMENT says it will not tolerate any contractors doing shoddy works under the constituency development fund CDF or any other project.

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Maambo Hamahundu says his ministry is alive to the fact that some contractors have not been delivering to the expectation of the national construction association.

Mr. Hamahundu said it was for this reason that government was putting in place strict measures that would enhance the evaluation of both local and foreign contractors before they were awarded the contracts.

He said shoddy works were unacceptable and should not be encouraged in any way because government was spending a lot of money through CDF and that it was expecting contractor to deliver the best of their works.

Mr. Hamauundu has since encouraged contractors to ensure that they act more professional by ensuring that they deliver quality works for them to attract more business from government and other institutions.
