…says Mweetwa should be treated as an accomplice to Chishimba Kambwili whom the UPND had deployed to the PF as a decoy for hate speech propaganda to bring down former President Lungu
By NATION REPORTER
BREBNAR Changala has demanded the immediate resignation of Cornelius Mweetwa, the Minister of Information and Media for revealing that the UPND had planted ailing Chishimba Kambwili on the Patriotic Front (PF) to propagate tribal hatred against the people of Southern Province and President Hakainde Hichilema in opposition to undermine and bring down former President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Changala says should Mr Mweetwa refuse to resign on his own, President Hichilema as the appointing authority should move and dismiss him even if they were speaking the same language.
Mr Changala, a civil rights and political activist said what Mr Mweetwa had revealed was criminal in nature and should therefore bare the same consequences Mr Kambwili had been subjected after he was prosecuted and jailed by the same people who had allegedly sponsored him to spew tribal vitriols to undermine former President Lungu’s chances to retain power.
He said Mr Mweetwa used a government platform and in his official capacity to commit a crime and that President Hichilema had no choice but relieve him of his duties.
“President Hichilema is head of State courtesy of Zambians and no matter how close he is to Mr Mweetwa, he should disappoint him (Mweetwa) even if they speak the same language. Mr Mweetwa has admitted to a crime in which Mr Kambwili has been jailed for five months. He (Mweetwa) should therefore receive the same sentence along with all his colleagues who sent Mr Kambwili to propagate tribalism as a campaign strategy,” Mr Changala said.
He said Mr Mweetwa was only carrying out President Hichilema’s mandate whom he accused of persistently and without shame had been fronting tribalism as his modus operandi of governing the country.
Mr Changala explained that each time President Hichilema was given an opportunity to address the nation, he had always punctuated his speech with vitriols by claiming that there were Zambians had had sworn that he would never be President of Zambia.
“Cornelius Mweetwa is only carrying out the mandate of his boss…President Hichilema who has persistently and without shame fronted tribal talk of saying that there are people who never wanted a Tonga to be President and how he suffered when he was in opposition. Late Michael Sata was also told the same things but he never spent government time to talk about people who had written him off,” Mr Changala stated.
He said ever since President Hichilema came into power his talk had always been about fronting tribe and how he had suffered while in opposition.
“That has been his slogan whenever he is given the microphone his talk has been about tribe and how he suffered in opposition. That has been his slogan. He (President Hichilema) is a true reflection of a man with an obscure agenda with the desire to divide the country.
He has abused the mandate Zambians gave him and has failed the test. He was elected on a trial basis and he has failed and so, he and mr Mweetwa should be shown the door,” Mr Changala said.
