COSAFA-bound Chipolopolo date Morocco

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Kuwait in an international friendly fixture played on June 12 at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt, the COSAFA-bound Chipolopolo squad will today seek redemption when they face Morocco U-19 in another intriguing match to be played in Rabat.

The Chipolopolo squad consisting of an all-local star cast led by Kabwe Warriors gaffer Mumamba Numba will seek to end their North African tour on a positive note. The Chipolopolo boys are motivated by the senior team’s 3-0 victory over Ivory Coast in a the AFCON qualifier played last Saturday in Ndola.

Today’s fixture against Morocco is crucial for Numba who has promised to make changes to the squad that started in the defeat to Kuwait.

Numba is happy that the team is injury-free and all the players are ready for Morocco.

“We’ll approach the game with all the seriousness that it deserves. It is important to us because we are looking at preparing for the COSAFA tournament. We need to work hard to get a positive result that will motivate us as we prepare for the COSAFA,” Numba said.

“We will definitely make adjustments to the team that started against Kuwait so that we see how the young boys will perform against Morocco,” he said.

Meanwhile, Numba believes the senior team’s qualification to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations will motivate his charges to get a positive result against Morocco.

And Charge d’Affaires head of mission at the Zambian mission in Rabat, Eliphas Chinyonga welcomed the Chipolopolo and urged them to represent the country diligently when they face Morocco.
