Copperbelt PF blasts Nalumango over ECL ridicule

By ROGERS KALERO

The Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt has lambastedVice-President Mutale Nalumango for attempting to ridicule and embarrass former President Edgar Lungu over his legacy.

Copperbelt PF media director Munalula Moola has charged that Ms Nalumango has no moral right to ask what legacy former President Lungu had left which Zambians should remember him for when the success and achievements of the former head of State were there for all to see and appreciate.

Mr Moola ads challenged Vice-President Nalumango to tell the nation what she had achieved in Kaputa during the time she was a Member of Parliament (MP) as well as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

Mr Moola said in less than five years of her term as MP, Ms Nalumango became unpopular among the electorate in Kaputa because she had failed to deliver to people’s expectations, which led to her losing the seat.

On Friday during the commemoration of Kenneth Kaunda Day, Ms Nalumango attempted to embarrass former Lungu by publicly asking him about his legacy and what Zambians would remember him for.

“Ba Lungu, how are we going to remember you?’’ asked the Vice-President as Chishimba Kambwili, the PF presidential candidate quipped; “infrastructure.”

But Mr Moola said the works of the PF and former President Lungu were there for everyone to see and that Ms Nalumango had no moral right to ask what legacy the former head of State had left.

Mr Moola said many Zambians had respect for President Lungu and regret having voted him out of government as many Zambians had been thrown into abject poverty because of the bad policies of the UPND government.

He said under President Lungu, milestone projects were actualized citing the water reticulation, road infrastructure, the construction of the Kazungula Bridge, the Mongu-Kalabo Brige, the longest and most expensive in the region, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport among other monumental projects.

“Apart from these projects I have mentioned, there are other projects which the PF started under former President Lungu which the UPND and President Hichilema were commissioning and taking credit.

So, what ism Ms Nalumango talking about? UPND should be the one to be get worried about what legacy it will leave.”

“As PF, we are not panicking because our works are there for a fair, mature and objective Zambian to see. If we did nothing as PF, why are they panicking and getting agitated with our slogan of Alebwelapo pa mu pamupando? Mr Moola said.

Mr Moola said the PF government had a lined up a well defined programme of infrastructure development to follow unlike the UPND, which was failing to work on critical roads like the Chibuluma road Independence Avenue.

He said, apart from failure to work on roads, the country’s food security was at risk under the New Dawn administration because the country has run out of maize stocks.

“The PF had its own issues just like any government, but it was a more organised government compared to the UPND. This is well-known to most Zambians. It ensured that it had enough maize stocks and the delivery of agricultural inputs was done right on time. You cannot compare PF to UPND. No, you can’t.

“On infrastructure development, the PF had a lot of programmes which were well lined up. If PF was still in power, Chibuluma road, Independence Avenue and other roads would have been reconstructed,” Mr Moola said.
