A MAN pontificating to be a Papa (Man of God) on Thursday survived and instant-mob-justice lynching by quick action from the Police after he was discovered of preaching and practicing wizardry instead of preaching the Godly Gospel.
Baffled by the discovery of fetishes, a shrine and an assortment of voodoo paraphernalia, the Chilenje residents descended on the man masquerading as an apostle with the intention of eternally crucifying him so he could go and meet the descendants of lucifer.
Two women had gone to see the Papa for deliverance and eventual salvation but when they entered what should have been the house of a Man of God, shock descended upon them when they discovered they had actually entered a shrine, which was the sanctuary of fetishes.
The two women were shocked that the house was also a hatchery…not for the chicks but for celestial birds whose purpose could only be understood by the owner of the house.
The enraged Chilenje residents on almost broke under the house of a man suspected of practicing rituals after the discovery of a shrine inside the house instead of bibles and hymns books.
Quick action from police saved the house from being torched and destroyed as angry neighbors besieged the property, demanding that the said ‘Man of God’ should perish together with his ghoulish paraphernalia.
A Millennium Television crew which rushed to the scene found residents breaking the gate to the house while baying for his blood.
One of the residents spoken to explained that the alert came from two women who needed help from the alleged man of God but were shocked when they discovered that the place was a shrine.
She explained that the incident had instilled fear in the residents as cases of missing children had increased in the area and that according to the residents, the man could have been the suspect.
The residence turned hammer-house-of-horror had in one room, a collection of charms consisting of human hair, a wig, eggs, feathers, clay pots, needle, all assembled at the shrine.
The discovery did not sit well with the residents who complained that the strange happenings were not acceptable in a Christian nation.
Meanwhile Chilenje ward 7 councilor Reuben Mwape has called on members of the public to be wary of such occurrences in order to protect society.
Mr. Mwape has also called on the immigration department intensify operations as most of such practices are by foreigners.
