WE’RE SORRY – Power Dynamos apologise to fans

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

FAZ Super League leaders Power Dynamos has said sorry to its fans who felt that they were disrespected by head coach Mwnya Chipepo who told them to “get out” during a FAZ Super League fixture against Green Buffaloes.

During the Week-28 fixture played on April 2 at Edwin Imboela Stadium, Chipepo threatened to leave Power Dynamos one of these days because of not being appreciated by fans who called him a draw specialist.

Chipepo’s response put him in bad books with some fans who feel disrespected by the behaviour of the gaffer.

The sour relationship between the head coach and the fans has compelled the club’s Chief Executive Officer Gibson Chaloba to apologise.

Chaloba noted that it was unfortunate that the people perceived the coach’s reaction as negative and the message sent to our fans was not received well.

“On behalf of Power Dynamos, we are sorry if what the coach probably said in Lusaka, injured a certain section of our supporters we are really sorry. On behalf of Power Dynamos let me actually state that we spoke to the coach and he has asked us to go to the supporters and tell them that he is sorry for the perceived friction with the fans. For real we are sorry as a club for what the coach did if at all it injured some sections of our fans,” Chaloba said.

Chaloba confirmed that the executive has had several meetings with the technical bench to remind them of what is expected of them.

“It was unfortunate that the people perceived the coach’s reaction as negative and the message sent to our fans was not received well but I can attest that we have had a series of meetings with our technical bench not only with coach Mwenya but the whole technical bench so that we know what to say to our fans, what to give out to our supporters,” Chaloba said.

Meanwhile, Chaloba has pleaded with Power Dynamos fans to conduct themselves peaceful during home games after serving their five-match ban to prevent being banned again by FAZ.

Chaloba said Power Dynamos had lost over K500, 000 from gate takings during the period the fans were banned from cheering their team at Arthur Davies Stadium for exhibiting hooliganism during a Week-11 fixture against Green Buffaloes.

“Power Dynamos is not known for such behaviour. Some of the core values of Power Dynamos are respect, discipline, sportsmanship and integrity and these values have been imbedded in Power Dynamos since 1971 and Power Dynamos has been behaving exclusively well so I think the people and the fans that are watching us, those that are going to come at the stadium please let’s restrain ourselves from this bad behaviour,” Chaloba said.
