ARROWS WILL BOUNCE BACK – Coach Chisi Mbewe still hopeful of redemption

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

RED Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe says the Airmen will bounce back from the five consecutive defeats recorded in the last five games of the MTN/FAZ Super League.

Speaking after a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Ndola giants Zesco United, Mbewe said the remaining 15 games are a lot of games for Arrows to put their house in order.

Mbewe attributed the five consecutive defeats to injuries which have weakened the Airmen defence that has conceded 10 goals in the last three games.

“The most important thing is that we improve in defending and again we also need to be scoring goals. The most worrying part is that we are not scoring but we are allowing goals. We need to work on those mistakes and see where we will end,” Mbewe said.

He admitted being under pressure after the five consecutive defeats which have relegated the defending champions to seventh on the Super League table with 27 points.

“Pressure will always be there but the most important thing is that we need to work on our mistakes and areas where we are not doing   well to improve. Five games without a win is not a good sign for us to defend the league but we need to talk to the players to build the confidence in them because they are the same players who won the league,” Mbewe said.

Mbewe however noted that the Airmen have a lot of games remaining to fight for their title as defending champions of the Super League.

“Fifteen games are a lot of games and when you look at the points, there is not much difference and the most important thing is we just have to keep believing and fight to see where we will end,” he said.

He emphasized the need to remind Red Arrows players to work hard to achieve the success recorded last season where they reached the finals of the ABSA Cup and won the Super League.
