ENERGY Regulation Board (ERB) board chairperson, Reynold Bowa says it was prudent for Government to remove subsidies on fuel to sustain viability of the energy sector.
Mr Bowa said Government owed fuel suppliers US$500 million, a huge cost which need to be avoided.
He said it was prudent that the subsidies were removed so that the government could be spared from incurring more debt. He said it was important for consumers to pay realistic prices for the fuel they consumed.
Meanwhile, Mr Bowa called for effective oversight supervision at the Kariba Dam.
He said Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority had fully utilised water allocated to it by the Zambezi River Authority and was now using Zesco’s allocation
