Civil servants misleading HH – the UPND is claiming technocrats are providing half-baked information to the head of State, aim to embarrass him, frustrate implementation of progressive developmental programmes

By MAKWIMA CHILALA

SENIOR civil and public servants within government have been accused of deliberately misleading the UPND administration by allegedly providing half-baked information to President Hakainde Hichilema in a bit to embarrass the head of State.

The ruling, United Party for National Development (UPND) in Lusaka has expressed concern that some technocrats in government whom it accuses of having continued to frustrate the government efforts and programmes by giving wrong and unverified information to the President.

Mr Ottis Bwalya, the governing party Lusaka Province information and publicity secretary says the party had continued to receive reports of some technocrats who had been frustrating government with the aim to embarrass President Hichilema on national and governance matters.

Mr Bwalya said it was shameful that while President Hichilema was working hard to meet the expectation of Zambians by providing the best service to Zambians, some technocrats were deliberately proving inaccurate information and briefs to the Head of State so that he could fail to implement his vision.

“Without shame, some senior civil servants have been giving wrong, inaccurate and half-baked information on serious national matters to the President because their agenda is to make sure that they embarrass the head of State and derail the implementation of all the progressive programs,” Mr Bwalya said.

Mr. Bwalya said there was need for the head of State to firmly deal with the technocrats who have been frustrating government efforts in implementing progressive policies.

President Hichilema has on countless times complained that some civil servants have been resisting change and were not towing the UPND line in an attempt to frustrate the new dawn government.

The head of State has been complaining that the policies which were being made at the top of government were not being accepted by the lower organs of government.

The head of State has since threatened to discipline and part company with civil servants who are resisting change unless they repented and begin to work according the ethos of the new dawn government.
