Nakacinda dares Parliament: says the House has no power to reprimand him since he is not an MP

By NATION REPORTER

Parliament cannot take any action against me because I’m not a Member of Parliament therefore the standing orders do not apply to me and any action they will take is going to be illegal, Patriotic Front (PF) Chairperson for Publicity Raphael Nakacinda has said.

Mr Nakacinda recently refused to apologise to the Speaker over some sentiments he made and was chased from the House by an angry Speaker Nelly Mutti.

But Nakacinda said that there was nothing that parliament could do to him because he was not a Member of Parliament.

“I cannot be tried by parliament because I’m not a member and the unfortunate part is that they are trying to gag people from giving their opinions when they are the ones that gave them the mandate,” Mr Nakacinda said.

He said that it he was not intimidated because as far as he was concerned he had not broken any law by criticising the Speaker.

Mr Nakacinda said there was no way he would apologise using an apology that was written for him because it was not coming from him and was just being dictated.
