THREE HEALTH WORKERS NABBED FOR DRUG THEFT IN ZIMBA

By ANDREW MUKOMA

Police in Zimba District in Southern Province have arrested three health workers in connection with theft of government drugs.

The suspects are currently detained in police custody awaiting court appearance.

Both Zimba District Commissioner Robson Mulamfu, and District Director of Health, Chimuka Hankombo have confirmed to the incident which occurred on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 last week.

Mr Mulamfu said the suspects whose names have been withheld in order not to jeopardise investigations were delivering drugs to Manyemunyemu rural health post but diverted on the way and allegedly sold the medicines.

He said it is regrettable that some civil servants are frustrating the efforts of government in the health sector by stealing drugs.
