ECONOMIST Lubinda Habaazoka, has urged government to sign government to government agreements that will allow the purchase of cheaper fuel.
Dr Habaazoka told Millennium TV news in an exclusive interview that, government should consider engaging Russia which is currently selling its oil at a cheaper price.
He says that, engaging other governments selling fuel at discounted rate, is the only way it will help to reduce the cost of the commodity.
Dr Habaazoka further says fuel is a major component in the cost of doing business and the continued escalating prices will negatively affect businesses hence it is cardinal for government to find ways of reducing the commodity.
He says for as long as the commodity is high, it will be difficult for the country to be develop.
Dr Habaazoka says Zambia as a developing country need to work on modalities that will help in enhancing development.
Dr Habaazoka says if the key commodities like fuel continue to be high, the country’s development will remain stagnant.
