BUS FARES GO UP

THE Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has approved an increase in bus fares throughout the country.

Fares between inter-mine Copperbelt route and Lusaka peri-urban has been increased by K5 while Copperbelt and Lusaka local routes has been hiked by K2. 

Intercity route has been increased by 15 percent of the current bus fare.

RTSA head of public relations Frederick Mubanga said they have approved the request by the bus operators to increase bus fares in line with the Road Traffic Act No.11 of 2002.

Mr. Mubanga said in a statement that the approval follows a consultative meeting with the bus operators last Friday.

He said the bus fares are effective from today.
