FIRST Lady Mutinta Hichilema has donated hampers to three New Year’s Babies at the Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) as a way of sending a message that she was a caring Mother of the nation

Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) Senior Medical Superitendent Abidan Chansa said the hospital had recorded three New Year’s babies, the first one being 00.50hours, the second one at 04: 57 hours and the third one at at 08:13hours

The hampers which included blankets, diapers, washing soap and sugar were presented to the mothers of the New Year’s babies by Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo who emphasised that the gestures was a clear indication that the First Lady was a caring mother

Mr Matambo said he was humbled to make a presentation to the mother of the three babies on behalf of the First Lady Mutinta Hichilema

“Am here at Kitwe Teaching hospital to give out hampers to the New Year;s babies on behalf of the First Lady who is the Mother of the Nation. This gesture goes to send a message that the First Lady is a caring mother of the Nation,” Mr Matambo said

Mr Matambo was accompanied by Kitwe District Commissioner (DC) Lawrence Mwanza , Kitwe Mayor Mpasa Mwaya and some UPND party cadres

And speaking earlier, Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) Senior Medical Superitendent Abidan Chansa said the hospital had recorded three New Year’s babies, the first one being 00.50hours, the second one at 04: 57 hours and the third one at at 08:13hours

And Mr Matambo has urged Zambians to take an active role in sensitising each other about COVID 19 especially on the importance of vaccination

Mr Matambo said there was no mystery about getting vaccinated against COVID 19 and so people should not be sceptical about it, but should get vaccinated

He said leaders like himself had decided to lead the way in vaccinating against the COVID 19 and was happy that the same day he was getting vaccinated, it was the same day the Kitwe Mayor got vaccinated in Kitwe

“So, as leaders we are leading the way in fighting COVID 19 by getting vaccinated. There is no mystery about getting vaccinated against COVID 19 and so people should not be sceptical about it, but should get vaccinated,” he said
