Choose a leader to help PF bounce back into power – Miles Sampa
By ADRIAN MWANZA
WE do not have time to prepare for the 2026 hence the need for the Patriotic Front to quickly choose the person who will help it bounce back to power, says Matero MP Miles Sampa.
Mr Sampa said the longer the party waited, the more difficult it would be for them to sell the person who would take over as president from Mr Edgar Lungu when he reitres.
He said that they had to expedite the process of holding the general conference so that they could start selling the person who would lead the party.
“The longer we wait to usher in new leadership, the more difficult it will be for us to bounce back. If you look at the UPND, even in 2017 they knew the person who they would field as presidential candidate which made it easy for them to market him to the Zambians,” he said.
Mr Sampa said he was confident that the party would come back stronger from the defeat and even reclaim the power they lost during the August 12 elections.
He however warned people eyeing the party’s presidency to follow the laid down procedure and not to do things haphazardly.
Mr Sampa said that the party had clear guidelines and that it was not wrong for people to declare that they were interested in the top job.
However, when quizzed on whether he was interested in the PF presidency MrSampa said it was neither here nor there and did not want to discuss the topic.
