Unknown people have chopped off a finger of a nine year old albino boy of Chibanda Village in Chasefu District of Eastern Province.
Chasefu District Commissioner Mustapher Banda who visited the scene of crime have confirmed the incident which happened in Senior Chief Magodi’s area on 11th July, 2021.
Mr Banda who identified the victim as Sinya Lwanja explained that the incident happened on the material day at Chibanda’s Village garden between 17:00 hours and 18:00 hours.
On the material day, the victim in the company of his elder brother had gone to Chibanda village for a visit where unknown people emerged on their way and attacked them after which a smaller left finger of Sinya got chopped off which left him unconscious.
The assailants later fled the crime scene with chopped off finger.
He said the victim has since returned home after receiving treatment at Lundazi District Hospital where he was rushed to.
Meanwhile, Mr. Banda who expressed concern over the barbaric act, has since warned those who are in a habit of attacking albinos to desist from such acts or else risk the long arm of the law.
“I warn these barbarians to stop such horrific acts forthwith, because government will not seatback and watch them go scot free as there days are numbered, “he said.
He has however instructed the police in the area to make sure that perpetrators of the vice are brought to book and the law takes its course.
