Socialist Party Solwezi central parliamentary candidate Hundson Salungu has withdrawn from the race to Manda hill.
Mr Salungu confirmed the development in an interview.
“I can confirm that I have decided to withdraw from the parliamentary race for Solwezi Central constituency in the August 12 polls,” said Mr Salungu.
He also mentioned frustrations though he did not disclose the source for the frustrations as another reason for his withdrawal.
He however, indicated that the party leadership has called him for a roundtable meeting to discuss the matter.
“The party has decided to call for a roundtable meeting to discuss the issue at hand.
And whatever the outcome, I will still come back to my people and give them feedback,” he said But when contacted for a comment, Socialist Party North-Western provincial coordinator Gerald Sandundu disclosed that Mr Salungu has reversed his earlier decision to withdraw from the race.
“The decision our candidate took has been reversed and as a party we are taking serious measures to ensure that the issue at hand is resolved amicably,” said Mr Sandundu.
He maintained that Mr Salungu is still the Socialist Party candidate for Solwezi central.
