Child Fund donates towards Covid – 19 fight
Luangwa Child Development Agency working Child Fund Zambia, have donated medical supplies worth K61, 000 to Luangwa District Hospital.
Presenting the donation, Luangwa Child Development Chief Executive Officer, Danford Makayi, said his organization is concerned with the impact of the pandemic on children.
He said the impact of Covid-19 on parents also affects most of the children in the district.
The Chief Executive Officer further expressed his organization’s commitment to supplement government efforts in the fight against the pandemic.
And Child Fund Zambia Representative Godwin Nsofu, said his organization is aware of the spike in the number of people affected by pandemic in the country hence the need to offer assistance.
Mr. Nsofu assured government that his organization working through the Luangwa Child development agency will continue to support the department of health to increase the uptake of COVID 19 vaccines and enhance sensitization measures in the district
Both Luangwa DC, Julius Sikasote and Chief Mphuka of the Chikunda people thanked Child Fund Zambia for the gesture.
Mr. Sikasote said the government appreciates the role played by the private sector in assisting the district.
“This donation is a testimony of the successful partnership between government and Child fund Zambia,” he said.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting earlier, Senior Chief Mburuma of the Nsenga -Luzi people of Luangwa District, urged the district health office to intensify sensitization on the importance of taking the Covid – 19 vaccine and adherence to preventive measures.
“Frame your message in a way that will encourage more people to get vaccinated and not to scare them” he advised.
Meanwhile District Health Director, Caleb Phiri, has urged all stakeholders to become champions in the fight against COVID 19.-ZANIS
