500 MUCHINGA COOPERATIVES GET ECL SUPPORT

ABOUT 500 cooperatives in Muchinga province have been empowered under Edgar Changwa Lungu (ECL) Multipurpose Empowerment Cooperative.

The cooperatives have received equipment and vari- ous products as a fulfilment of President Lungu’s pledge.

Muchinga Province Minis- ter, Malozo Sichone, said The Head of State will continue supporting citizens affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

The Minister was speaking on Wednesday at Presidents Park in Chinsali district when he flagged off the distribution of various items under the ECL Multipurpose Empower- ment Cooperative.

Mr Sichone stated that the empowerment would benefit 500 cooperatives in Muchinga Province and was aimed at uplifting the lives of a signifi- cant number of households.

”The PF Government is a pro-poor one with the key agenda of uplifting the well-being of all Zambians regardless of their political affiliation, tribe and religion,” he said.

Mr Sichone encouraged all cooperatives that benefited from the empowerment to ensure they make good use of the packages.

Meanwhile, ECL Multipur- pose Empowerment Coopera- tive Muchinga Province Team Coordinator Isaac Nsoneka said President Edgar Lungu has a heart for all Zambians hence working to ensure everyone benefits from the programme.

Mr Nsoneka stated that so far four Provinces, namely, Luapula, Eastern, Northern and Muchinga have benefited from President Edgar Lungu’s empowerment scheme.

”As team, we have so far empowered cooperatives in four(4) provinces and Much- inga is the last one to receive the empowerment under phase one (1), which has come to an end,” he said.

Mr Nsoneka added that the ECL Multipurpose Empow- erment Cooperative will continue to reach out to more cooperatives under phase two after the August 12 elections.

He added that in Chinsali District 50 cooperative had benefited and more would be empowered in the second phase,

And a representative from a beneficiary cooperative, Monica Mukuka, thanked President Lungu for his sup- port towards the underprivi- leged.

”These products and equip- ment we have received will go a long way and will also benefit others,” she said.

The flagging off of the products and equipment was witnessed by Senior Chief Nkula, Chief Nkweto and Chief Mubanga as well as PF party officials among others.
