DAD, TWO KIDS DROWN IN LAKE BANGWEULU

STEPHEN MWEWA

A father and his two children in Chilubi district have died on Lake Bangweulu after the boat they were travelling in capsized.

Moses Chanda and his two children, Moses Jr aged nine and six-year old Kabamba, of Chisanga village in Kabesha area died as they were paddling to a fishing camp.

Muteka ward Councillor Gift Mutande who confirmed the incident, said the bodies were retrieved last week on Wednesday after the trio went missing for some time.

Mr Mutande said the three family members met their fate on their way from Chilubi Island going to the fishing camp, but that members of the community did not immediately know about the incident.

He said the boat capsized following the heavy wind which started blowing as they were travelling and that two bodies have been retrieved and buried while the body of the six-year-old boy had not.
