Women gear up for August polls

SANFROSSA MANYINDA

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) on the Copperbelt has advised women in the party to work extra hard and pull crowds for the opposition party.

UPND Copperbelt Vice-Chairlady, Patricia Mwaanga, said it was only through mass mobilization of voters that UPND President Hakainde Hichilema could get to the State House.

She said this would also ensure a landslide victory for UPND aspirants at parliamentary and local Government level in the August 12 general elections.

Ms Mwaanga was speaking in Kitwe during a mobilisation meeting at the UPND Kwacha constituency secretariat at the weekend.

“Let us take advantage of the influence that we women have and continue holding mobilisation meetings across the province. Let us avoid giving excuses but ensure that we push our aspirants to leadership positions,” she said.

Ms Mwaanga commended the women on the Copperbelt for their dedication and tireless efforts towards party mobilization.

At the same meeting, UPND Copperbelt trustee, Indiana Musonda, called for peace and unity among the women as they mobilized votes for Mr Hichilema ahead of the August 12 polls.

Ms Musonda urged the grassroots leadership of the party to continue mobilising the party.
